Objectives of PM Kusum Yojana -

The Kusum Solar Pump Scheme is a Central Government scheme launched by Finance Minister Shri Arun Jaitley. Their main objective behind this scheme is to provide solar agricultural pumps to the farmers at minimum cost.

The total expenditure under this scheme is divided into three sections. In which the central government will help the farmers. They are as follows.

The government will provide 60% subsidy to farmers

30% of the cost will be borne by the government in the form of loan.

Farmers will have to pay only 10% of the total cost of the project.

Beneficiary farmers can sell electricity generated from solar panels under this scheme. With the money earned after selling electricity, the farmer can start a new business.

What are the eligibility criteria for selection of Kusum Solar Agricultural Pump Beneficiary?

Applicants made under Atal Solar Krishi Pump Yojana or Mukhyamantri Solar Krishi Pump Yojana have not yet been approved

Farmers with borewells, wells, perennial rivers or streams, farms as well as sustainable sources of water will be eligible to apply.

Farmers who do not have traditional electricity connection will be eligible to apply under this scheme.

Farmers with 2.5 acres of agricultural land will get 3 HP DC, farmers with 5 acres of farm land will get 5 HP DC, farmers with more than 5 acres will get 7.5 HP DC as well as subsidy for higher capacity solar agricultural pumps.

What are the features of Kusum Solar Pump Scheme?

3814 non-transmission agricultural pumps will be set up in 34 districts of Maharashtra. This scheme will enable farmers to irrigate during the day.

Farmers will be able to install other equipments at their own cost.

Beneficiary share of general category beneficiaries has been declared at 10 per cent of the cost of agricultural pump and beneficiaries of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes at 5 per cent.

HP DC solar pumps of 3 hp, 5 hp, 7.5 hp and above will be available to the farmers depending on their land.

Eligibility for Kusum Yojana Application -

The applicant should be a permanent resident of India.

Under this scheme, no financial qualification is required for the project through self-investment.

The applicant can apply for 2 MW capacity in proportion to his space or capacity (whichever is less) notified by the Distribution Corporation.

Under this scheme, farmers can apply for solar power projects of 0.5 MW to 2 MW capacity.

Kusum Yojana Application Fee -

Under this scheme, the applicant will have to pay ₹ 5000 per MW and GST for applying for a solar power station. This amount will be paid in the form of Demand Draft to the Managing Director of Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation. The charges for applications ranging from 0.5 MW to 2 MW will be as follows.
